Lara Voce, Shizukesa, 2025
Lara is British artist, based in Warwickshire. Growing up in a family that owned a restaurant, she was captivated by the kitchen and its flow of activity. This early exposure influences her focus on the small, often overlooked details of daily life. Her latest series draws further inspiration from Japanese teachings on finding stillness in a busy modern world.
Working intuitively, she builds layered compositions where textures and traces of earlier work are revealed. Balancing a muted palette with bold colors, her pieces form a portrait of how she experiences and responds to the world: Sometimes still and contemplative, other times lively and expressive.
“A collection of still life works which examine a single moment in time. I hope it offers a moment of stillness and an opportunity for the viewer to pause in a busy world.“
